Wat is mecenaatstudies?
Het interdisciplinaire veld mecenaatstudies onderzoekt geefrelaties tussen kunstenaars en weldoeners. Het stelt zich niet alleen de vraag waarom gevers de kunsten ondersteunen, maar ook hoe en waarom kunstenaars en culturele instellingen die steun aanvaarden. Mecenaat is een spel van geven en nemen dat zijn eigen rituelen, ideaalbeelden, taboes en gevoeligheden kent.
